Making

Much of my work is inspired by island life. Walking, writing and making take most of my free time. I work across printmaking, digital print, bookmaking, collage and traditional woolen crafts like crochet and spinning.

The Lundy landscape provides a natural place for ideas and creativity. Sometimes these ideas drift into small pieces of work that I share here.

Ghost Net Baskets

As many of you know, I am a regular sea swimmer and swim all year-round in Lundy’s marine conservation zone. I am aware of the impact ghost gear can have on marine life. Ghost gear refers to lost, discarded, or abandoned fishing gear like nets, lines, and rope. From these ghost gear materials I create baskets. Each basket is unique, shaped by what the sea leaves behind. For me, they act as gentle reminders to protect our marine life.

If any of this work interests you I’d love to hear from you.

Linocut printed cards

Although Lundy is much more than puffins, you can’t ignore our little “clowns of the sea.” The name Lundy itself means “Puffin Island” in Old Norse. Between April and July, visitors often ask as soon as they arrive: Where can I see the puffins? Sometimes they even ask in September, long after the puffins have gone to sea!

As a regular sea swimmer on Lundy I often swim among the seals. I am not a great lover of seals, there is no other reason other than they are big! I wanted to see seals in a more fun way. So, I created a lino cut. Then, I got them printed into cards.

Here are the 4″x 6 ” Linocut Printed card…..
